Juan Luis Guerra Premieres His First Animated Film, “Capitán Avispa”

Singer and songwriter Juan Luis Guerra debuts his first animated feature film, “Capitán Avispa,” marking a significant milestone for the Dominican Republic’s film industry. As the first Dominican animated feature, this movie paves the way for future national and international projects, showcasing the country’s potential in producing high-quality animation. 

The movie follows Capitan Avispa, a noble and charismatic Caribbean hero, as he embarks on a thrilling adventure to protect Avispatropolis and the Honey Kingdom after his kingdom is threatened by the sinister Jacques Poison. With stunning animation, a captivating storyline, and amazing music from Juan Luis Guerra himself, this film brings an exciting experience for audiences of all ages. 

Morgana Studios, alongside Bingo Studio, was one of the two animation houses responsible for bringing the characters of the movie to life. The stunning visuals are paired with an incredible cast, starring Luis Fonsi, Joy Huerta, Juanes, José Guillermo Cortines, Karen Martínez, and Amelia Vega.  

Capitán Avispa opens doors for the Dominican Republic’s participation in renowned film festivals, international awards, and other esteemed events within the animation community. This expansion is a landmark achievement, enhancing the country’s influence in the realm of animation, a field that has yet to be fully explored.
